Falling in Love with the Problem

Not the solution.

With so many tools, it’s easy to get distracted.

It’s tempting to jump straight into the latest model architectures, prompts, or LLMs.

And as AI PMs, we tend to focus solely on AI / ML as a means to solve problems.

But let’s be honest:

👉 Not every problem needs AI.
👉 Not every solution should be complex.
👉 And no tool is more powerful than a clearly defined PRD.

So before you rush into “solutioning,” take a step back.

• What exactly is the problem?
• What users does it impact?
• How will we measure success?
• How will it improve the customer experience?
• Why should AI be used for this problem?
• Why is the solution important to the business?
• Why now?

When we start with the problem, we unlock flexibility.

We adapt when priorities shift.

We avoid becoming emotionally attached to shiny tech.

So next time you’re tempted to lead with AI…

Lead with the problem to create a sticky and delightful product.
